Bengaluru, January 23 (Karnataka Information):
The Karnataka Chief Minister Mr Siddaramaiah has said that the State Government will examine to establish an Equal Opportunity Commission, to get Social Justice for everyone, who is economically backward, irrespective of their caste, creed or religion.
Speaking after releasing District Development and Diversity Index Report for India and Major States, brought-out by the Centre for Research and Debates in Development Policy in association with the US-India Policy Institute on Friday, he said, the State Government has already set the ball in motion to conduct a House to House Survey of the State’s 6.35 Crore population, with 56 parameters to study and analyze their Educational and Social Background. The results of the Survey, which is being conducted after a gap of 80-long years, will be matched with the present report, which was released today, to formulate future policies of the State Government, especially for the benefit of the people.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Centre for Research and Debates in Development Policy Mr Abu Saleh Sharief in his audio visual presentation stated that Karnataka is one of the pioneering States in the Human Development Index.
The Minister for Infrastructure Development and Haj, Information and Public Relations Mr R. Roshan Baig,the Minister for Municipal Administration, Minorities Welfare and Wakf Mr Qamarul Islam, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mr U. T. Khader, the Executive Director of the Centre for Research and Debates in Development Policy Mr Syed Zameer Pasha were also present at this function.
